About the practice

Hong Jeong, MD

Interventional Cardiologist

Dr. Jeong attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, receiving his undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Chemistry. He received his medical education at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, remaining at VCU's Pauley Heart Center to specialize through two fellowships, in Cardiovascular Disease and in Interventional Cardiology.

He performs a wide variety of hospital and office based services and procedures, including coronary artery and peripheral vascular procedures such as angioplasty, atherectomy and stents. He also performs implantation of pacemakers and automated implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, transesophageal echocardiography, cardioversion and nuclear stress testing.

Dr. Jeong takes particular interest in the treatment of venous conditions, including varicose veins and venous insufficiency — the reason the practice runs a dedicated vein division alongside cardiology.

Danielle McDonough, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC

Nurse Practitioner

Danielle graduated from nursing school in 1989. Her nursing experience includes cardiovascular ICU and cardiac cath lab work across several states. After 20 years of hospital bedside nursing, she returned to school for her nurse practitioner degree and a doctorate in nursing practice from the University of Central Florida. That combination of bedside and advanced practice experience brings a real depth of knowledge to the practice, and her focus is patient-centered care.

Danielle has lived in Brevard County for nearly 20 years with her husband and three children. She loves to travel, canoe and hike.

Christina Whitlock, RN

Registered Nurse · Vein & Cosmetic

Christina Herrero Whitlock, RN, has cared for patients for over seven years. She came to Viera Heart and Vascular Clinic after years caring for hospice patients and working with patients who have cardiac and vascular disease. She has nearly three years of vascular experience assisting with surgical procedures and performing all cosmetic treatments, including injections and laser, and has taught physicians and nurses on injection technique and other treatments performed in a vein clinic.

Christi has also been a licensed esthetician for over 20 years, performing a wide variety of cosmetic procedures, and has brought that background into the cosmetic side of the vein practice.

She believes in a patient-centered approach and helps diagnose, treat and educate patients on a range of lower extremity venous diseases. With her background in surgical sub-specialties, she works alongside Dr. Jeong performing up-to-date clinical procedures to treat venous insufficiency.

In her leisure time, Christi loves spending time with family and friends, good food and travel.
