Treatment for spider veins

If you are bothered by spider veins, Viera Heart & Vascular Clinic offers sclerotherapy and Vein Gogh to reduce their appearance. Because this is a vascular practice, we can also tell you whether what looks cosmetic is actually a sign of underlying venous disease worth treating.

Cosmetic treatment is not covered by insurance. Most patients need more than one session; we will estimate how many at your consultation. Confirm current pricing when you book.

Not sure which you need?

Come in for an evaluation first. Treating surface veins while a larger feeding vein is still failing tends to disappoint — we look at the whole leg before recommending anything.

How the treatments work

Two approaches

Sclerotherapy

A sclerosant is injected directly into the vein. It irritates the lining of the vein, causing it to shrink and clot, which restricts blood flow. Over time your body absorbs the vessel. The vein may look darker for a period before it fades.

Vein Gogh

A medical device based on ohmic thermolysis, used to remove telangiectasias and the smaller, thinner spider veins of the lower legs. It is minimally invasive and works with all skin types — useful where a vein is too fine to inject.
